Apocalyptic Apoplexy
We walk streets
replete with gargantuan gastropods,
gullies where gaseous argon
drifts like bygone clouds.
Hypoxia thus induced,
we hallucinate colors,
smells—and feelings—now extinct.
This apocalyptic apoplexy
is its own panacea.
Yup: Things just got weird. This alliterative gem (note: sarcasm) is my response to this week’s Trifextra challenge, which was to write 33 words on anything that struck our fancy.
People are sure to be all over the place with this one, so check out all the great responses over at Trifecta.
Happy weekend everyone!
I hope there is never a day where I need to hallucinate a color, a feeling or a smell ….
but the way you wrote it was brilliant. SO Creative and lyrical.
I love all of the worrrrrds. They pop like popcorn on the tongue 😀
This is awesome Brian! Love the disjointed feeling the words evoke – not to mention the imagery. And the title is made up of two of my favourite words! 🙂
Haha, thanks Suzanne. I actually remembered the title of your blog after I wrote this and thought “hmm, it’s quite possible I owe Suzanne some credit for prompting 1) my love of the word apoplexy and 2) my love of apoplexy used alliteratively” so, you know, hats off to you!
😀 Why thank you sir! But I’m pretty sure the credit belongs to you for your spectacular talent!
My, aren’t you a busy boy?
You had me at Apocalyptic Apoplexy!
you wordsmith, you . . . agreeing with Linda. Love Apocalyptic Apoplexy
i wish i had your vocabulary and ability to grab at all the right words with the right sounds. and the end lines, truly giving the point a home. best this week i’d say.
My first comment is: those are some mighty fine words! Brian, you’ve done a great job of mixing wonderful words with unique phrasing. Many will love your use of ‘apoplexy’ but me? I just can’t get enough of ‘panacea’ ! :)))
Just delicious, and even better read aloud. Word candy. Mmmm.
[…] 11 . Brian […]
Lemme go grab a dictionary….great job…little grey cells are all super charged up.
Love the way this works the mouth to read it outloud. Great imagery too.
That’s just what I was thinking.
