Pinionpost is meant to be a source of interesting reading, good writing, opinion and insight. Hopefully, it will sometimes even be thought-provoking, engaging, and maybe just a little bit funny.

First and foremost, it will be about writing, books, film, television and journalism. Sometimes it will be about politics, science, food and drink. Very rarely, it may be about different types of birds. Very rarely.

If your curiosity still has not been sated, well heck—just say hello already.

  1. Hello! I’ve been following your blog ever since I’ve came across this site. I am a new writer and I want to self-promote my newest projects FOR A CAUSE that can be found here http://jeninesilos.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/my-first-book-series-the-wonders-in-fable-land/ I just want to share it to all blogs I follow because it is my first time in the field of writing. Or you can see it directly in this site: http://writeforacause.org/

Your visit and comments are very much appreciated! Thank you and God bless!.

  2. I wanted to let you know I’ve presented you with the ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ award. Of course you don’t have to participate. It does take a bit of time, which I know can be precious, but I have been enjoying your blog and wanted to share it as much as my wee little blog can, and then hopefully you can share some of your favorites, as well.

If you’ve an interest, the details are here: http://notforallmarkets.wordpress.com/2012/05/22/its-an-award-and-a-quiz/
    Cheers!

    • Thank you Kathy! That means a lot (sorry for the late response – I’ve been lazy on vacation). I’m putting up the award in a post I’m working on right this very instant. Thanks!

  3. Congratulations Benoit! I’ve nominated you for the Leibster Blog award! Get all the information about it in my post:

    http://byamandaleigh.com/2012/05/29/hurray-another-award/

I’ve been following your blog for a little over a month now and I enjoy your style of writing terribly. I came for the Hunger Games post, but stuck around for everything else 🙂

    • Much appreciated, miss, much appreciated! That Hunger Games post feels like it was a long time ago (I think it’s about time I got back to doing a little more of the criticism/writing advice stuff, since I’ve been writing so many short stories lately). Thanks again!

  4. I think your bio page is the most entertaining one I’ve ever read. So. Is ‘Pinion’ referring to the feathers of birds then?

    • Thanks! That’s nice of you to say. I feel like the “about” page isn’t quite accurate anymore, since it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything political or even critical (thanks, in part, to how much fun I have with Friday Fictioneers and other flash fiction projects).

Pinion is more a reference to a gear in a larger work of machinery, sort of trying to elicit the idea of a nuts-and-bolts approach to writing. Sometimes, from the outside, it can seem like writing is a magic thing that just happens, when I really see it more as a science, an art that can be honed so that everything “works” just as it should.

      Thanks again!

  5. Hi Brian,

  7. Brian– I’ve nominated you for an award. I don’t know whether you ‘do’ this kind of thing, but if you do the link is here: http://andyswordsandpictures.wordpress.com/2012/12/20/shiny-stuff/

You write some great flash fiction and I have never been disappointed. keep up the great work and enjoy the award.

  8. Hey Brian, just wanted to let you know I’ve nominated you for a couple of blogging awards. If you are interested, here’s the link:

I’d Like To Thank The Academy…

  9. Hi there! I’ve nominated you for the Leibster Award. This award is designed for bloggers with less than 200 readers, who quite frankly are pretty ace at what they do and deserve more.

    The rules are:

    1. Share eleven facts about yourself with your fellow bloggers.
    2. Make sure to answer the eleven questions posed.
    3. Ask eleven questions of your own.
    4. Nominate eleven bloggers for this award.
    5. Notify the people you have tagged.

    Here are your questions:

    1. What is your favourite element?
    2. Which is your most favourite swear word? WHY?
    3. If you could punch a famous person, who would it be?
    4. If your food fell to the floor, how long before you consider it inappropriate to pick it back up and eat it?
    5. Is “mint” a legit ice-cream flavour? Do you like it?
    6. How are you feeling today?
    7. Do you think we will blow ourselves up? Or do you still have faith in mankind?
    8. Do you feel bad for “pluto” (the planet) ?
    9. Favourite director /author/ screenwriter?
    10. What’s love got to do with it?
    11. Let’s say you got famous for something, like writing a book, or curing a disease or punching that celebrity in q.3. Which talk show host would you like to interview you about it?

    Have fun with it!

(also, i’m sorry I sent you a message with the same content by mistake. Woops)

    • Whew! Just under the wire — I’ve got exactly 199 followers haha. I haven’t done an award post in a while, perhaps the time has come… Thanks for thinking of me Nandini!

  10. Here’s the scenario, you tell people to visit your Facebook page and when they get there they see something like 10 likes. This is tantamount to walking in to an empty restaurant at lunch hour! Kind of makes you nervous doesn’t it? This doesn’t have to be the case anymore. Now you can buy 100% safe and REAL likes and followers for facebook, instagram, twitter and youtube. These are not fake bot-generated likes. They are from real and active users. This means you will not only boost your appearance but you will also benefit from engagement and potential sales not to mention that a more active social profile will also rank you better with Google. It’s a win-win situation. Check out http://www.smartsocialpromotion.com for more details – I know you’ll be glad you did!

    John.
