Slice of Life

I am in

a rut

a rage

recovery

Over-

whelmed

analyzing

joyed

And my

teeth chatter

bones ache

skin prickles

sides hurt from laughing

Life is

rough

sublime

varied

I like that

The prompt for this week’s Trifextra challenge was the photo at the top of this post, where each slice represents one day in a year. I tried to experiment to create the same sort of effect with my story—so let me know if I came even close to approximating it.

Happy weekend everyone!

  1. I really like the style of this. Very cool. Very now. Wave of the future, maybe? 🙂

  2. Rough, sublime, varied.

    I like that too.

    Very inspired 33 words!

  3. This is a cool format. That last stanza is my favorite. Gotta love the rough, sublime and varied life!

  4. Brian, only you could have figured out a structure which allowed you to stay within the word limit and yet soar above it too! As always, impeccably done. :))

P.S. Congratulations again on your recent Trifecta win – it was most deserved, sir. An amazing story. With the truly overwhelming emotion of it, I’m glad this weekend prompt provides an opportunity for the sun to shine in and restore.

  5. This is
    tender
    heartwarming
    lovely

Great job with your 33 words! And congrats on a well-deserved win this week. 🙂

  6. I like that too. Great work.

  7. I like that about life too and I like the indirect use of the seasons prompt to talk about change and variety.

  8. You’ve got
    pace
    style
    panache
    Your reader feels
    wonder
    empathy
    relief.
I like it like that, too.

Congrats on your win this week!

  9. AH this was great… this squeezed out the maximum of 33 words

  10. Oh wow I really love what you did here. It’s so simple but still so powerful. I love it when form matches content.

  11. Fabulous – like a “choose your own adventure” story. 🙂 Great job!!

  12. Unusual (for me) but awesome.

  13. Great work on the prompt. Like your point of view. 🙂

  14. I love the construct and cohesion of your piece. Thought provoking poem!

  15. Over… whelmed, analyzed, overjoyed……………. perfection. This is wonderful and describes so many emotions. Love it!
