The Goodnight Song
Old,
I am.
I start to dream
and suddenly
I am
this passing thing.
Tall windows
light up the walls
and
the shadows cast
will guard my bed.
Snow
falls:
It’s gathering out
upon the street
as
a girl walks by.
Slow
rhythm.
An easy heart-
beat
is lulled to sleep
by a memory.
This is my response to the week’s Friday Fictioneers prompt, the very cool photo up yonder taken by Janet Webb. This poem-thing actually started out as an actual song (hence the title), but I’m not sure how well it holds up once the music is gone. You be the judge! Then, click the blue guy to read the west of this week’s stories (which I judge to be well worth your time).
Happy Friday!
I like it. It would have been interesting if you’d sung it and put the video up. 🙂 Glad you liked the picture, too.

Dear Brian,
A sweet, whispered song. Well done.

Love your poetic take on this prompt! I think it works just as well without any music – it makes its own!
Original form. Well written. I like tge description if being “lulled to sleep”. (RogRites)
Nice calming quality, Brian. I enjoyed it.
Nothing to criticize. Well done.
Neat take, cool poem.
Wonderful, I especially like the stanza with the girl walking by… wonderful
Beautiful.
As we age we have more and more to reflect upon. This is so peaceful.
